ADCES Virtual Event Case Study

The Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists (ADCES) is an interprofessional membership organization dedicated to improving prediabetes, diabetes and cardiometabolic care through innovative education, management and support. With more than 12,000 professional members including nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, and others, ADCES has a vast network of practitioners working to optimize care and reduce complications.

ADCES delivered their 2021 annual conference as an all-virtual event with live components scheduled for August 12-15 and on-demand education and conference features available through November 8, 2021. According to ADCES, “Our top priority is to ensure the health and safety of attendees, exhibitors, staff and vendors” and to deliver “a best-in-class virtual experience for all attendees focused on learning, collaborating and networking.”

The virtual event attracted almost 5,000 attendees who were focused on receiving continuing education in diabetes care, education and management, networking opportunities and the exchange of ideas and strategies. Nursing professionals represented a large segment of the attending audience emphasizing the critical role they play in diabetes education, prevention strategies and helping their patients in on-doing disease management.

Attendees walked away with high praise for the live portion of the event citing the accessibility of attending virtually, the ability to engage with speakers during their educational sessions, the opportunity to connect and network and the elements added to the virtual environment that made it fun to attend.
